Over 2,000 guests from over 15 countries welcomed the fourth edition of the OPEN BUZLUDZHA festival
Buzludzha Monument is one of the most dissonant and most visited abandoned places internationally. The festival OPEN BUZLUDZHA gathers public support for the preservation and opening of the Buzludzha monument as a place for art, culture and history. The cause is not politically bound and does not aim full restoration of the monument, but conservation and reuse for educational and tourism purposes.
The fourth consecutive and most successful edition of the Open Buzludzha Festival at Buzludzha Monument, which this year was held under the motto “Memories of the Future”, has ended. More than 2,000 visitors from more than 15 countries enlivened the space around the monument and the festival meadow between August 8 and 11. This year, a team of volunteers from all over the country and abroad contributed to the welcome and good mood of the visitors during the event. Organized transport took hundreds of visitors from Kazanlak to the festival meadow and back.

Music on 3 stages – main, forest and monumental, brought the mountain to life during the three festival nights. Great “memories from the future” on the main stage were taken care of by groups such as Wickeda, Cool Den, Kerana and the Cosmonauts, Hayes & Y and many others. And the themed parties on a forest stage were a new and favorite part of the program. Twenty-two successful DJs appeared on the stage in front of the monument, including names such as Dimo BG, Versus and PACHO, who entertained the visitors until sunrise. A highlight of the program for another year was the dizzying 3D mapping show prepared by MP-STUDIO (organizers of LUNAR), which the visitors of the Open Buzludzha Festival will definitely remember for a long time.
Many of the attendees shared that this festival is exceptional in that it not only entertains, but educates and engages the audience with their cause in a contemporary and inspiring way. A large part of the visitors took part in the festival game “Memories of the Future”, which offered 10 Buzludzha experiences to the audience, including provocative questions, an impro theater show, cultural and natural tours, presentations with speakers from the country and abroad. A crowd favorite was the mosaic workshop, where they created their own mosaic works, as well as the photo frame with messages to the future of Buzludzha. For the first year, there was also outdoor co-working space within the festival area, which allowed many visitors to work remotely.
The event was held with the support of over 20 partner organizations, including the hosts from Shipka-Buzludzha National Park-Museum, Kazanlak Municipality and the Ministry of Tourism.
